Stump was inspired by the image of a stump. In a stump one can still perceive the tree. In the realm of human physical experience the following phenomenon is known: after an amputation a person can still feel the missing limb. Movement that has become physically impossible can still be felt, and the perception of this generates emotional movement which can be captured in music. (Stefan Hakenberg, 1997) |
